Structural Frame

A frame is a way that people see or understand what is going on in the world around them. A structural frame is the way that organizations see and understand the world they function in. Structural frames describe how organizations are made organized from the the highest position, to the smallest position. These structures are important because they determine how work is divided and handled throughout the company. To view and understand an organizations structural frame, an analysis must be done. There are also many ways to analyze frames.

Below is a case study of the structural frame of Southwest Airlines.

Reflection

It is important for leaders to understand their organizations structural frame. Knowing how an organizations works from top to bottom is beneficial when leaders are looking to make improvements or changes to their company. Knowing when a certain structural frame does not benefit your organization, and being able to adjust it appropriately is a huge asset and skill for future leaders.
