Symbolic Frame

Symbolism is a powerful tool that can bring people together. Symbols, or the symbolic frame, is powered by intellectual and emotional messages (Bolman 2017). Symbols in organizations can be anything from logos, pictures, stories, and organization culture standards. Below is an analysis of Southwest Airlines symbolic frame, and how Southwest Airlines uses their unique company culture to inspire and motivate their employees.

Reflection

It is important that leaders know how to utilize the symbolic frame. There is so much power and meaning one can put behind a single image or a story. Leaders can use symbols to empower and motivate their employees. Southwest Airlines is a perfect example of this. They use their company culture to empower their employees, telling them to work with a "warriors heart and a loving spirit". This attitude is shown by their employees, and their customers loyal return and use their services because of it.
